'conquering lion's

from left: Thomas Dyer, 5 years old; Carmen Nuss, 6 years old; Seth Staphorst, 6 years old and Zachariah Howell, 4 years old

I have learnt that one of the keys to drawing is to carefully observe subject
matter, breaking it down into individual shapes (or negative spaces) and I help my children observe and see that they are indeed able to draw anything they wish. Here we 'drew' our basic outlines with black paint and painted in the details using shades of tan, caramel and beige. When they were dry, I finished them off by painting white into the eyes of the lions as we watched them come alive.
