under the sea

This lesson was loads of fun as I love the ocean.
- First, we created our oceans using sponge rollers: I put out trays of shaded blue food-colouring and turquoise powder paint, so the two mediums combined on paper could create a water effect on the white page.
- While that was drying, we moved on to drawing our beautiful fish on sugar paper using oil pastel - first, black to outline and then colouring-in the details with the nicest colours we could find.
- Then we carefully cut our fish out and stuck them into the sea, to swim to their little hearts contents.
- We finished off our pieces using strips of cellophane paper for seaweed, sequenced material scraps for coral, metallic cupcake holders (cut around the grooves to create sea-urchins), glitter for sparkle and sweetie papers - because there is always treasure under the sea!
